Dr. Bence Rácz is professor at University of Veterinary Medicine, Budapest, Hungary. He received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Szent István University in 2002. 2002-2006 he was Postdoctoral research fellow in Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, School of Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA; 2006 – 2009 OTKA postdoctoral research fellow, Szent István University, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Budapest. Dr. Rácz has International collaborations with Duke University, Yale University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, UCLA (USA), University of Graz (Austria).
Among the awards Dr. Rácz has received, is the Elektronmikroscopy Award, Hungarian Society for Microscopy, Lenhossék Mihály Award, Hungarian Anatomical Society; Prof. Bertalan Csillik Award, Hungarian Anatomical Society, Bolyai János Research fellowship, Hungarian Academy of Sciences; ÚNKP Bolyai+ research scholarship – Ministry of Human Capacities. He is a member of several International Scientific Societies.
Dr. Rácz’s main areas of research involve structural background of neuropsychiatric diseases, energy metabolism and the role of the hippocampus, structural background of autism spectrum disorder, polyamines, aging, and the mammalian brain, interaction between GABA and the peptidergic system in the rodent lateral septum, actin-binding proteins and their role in hippocampal plasticity, ultrastructural and molecular characterization of hippocampal neurons responsible for metabolic and energy balance.
